Little Millet Upma is a healthy and delicious breakfast recipe that you can easily prepare at home. Here’s a simple recipe:
- 1 cup little millet
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup peas
- 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup carrots, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup beans, finely chopped
- Salt, to taste
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
- Coriander leaves, for garnish
- Rinse the little millet and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and asafoetida. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions, green chili, and ginger. Saute until onions turn translucent.
- Add the chopped vegetables and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Now Add the soaked little millet and mix well. Add salt to taste.
- Pour 2 cups of water and mix well. Cover the pan and cook on medium heat for 10-12 minutes or until the water is absorbed the little millet is cooked.
- Add grated coconut and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
